the Contact Group is hosting a fundraising concert, with entertainment provided by the Clydeside Singers. All are welcome!
October Holiday Club: Life in Plastic — not fantastic!
All P1-P7 age children are invited to join us for a 3-day holiday club in the October break! What else are you doing with your Tuesday – Thursday mornings that week? Come and explore stories, games, and activities that help us save the planet. God’s good earth needs someone to take care of it, and that someone is us!
YOU have been specially chosen for this mission: to be God’s partner in making the beautiful world a home for animals, plants, and people. We’ll join our hands to God’s hands to help heal the earth and create the future.
Each day we’ll gather at 9am for music, stories, and activities. We’ll have lunch together, too! Pickup is at 1pm.
Activities will be both indoor and outdoor so please dress for the weather.

a Macmillan Bowl & Blether!
Join us on Monday 5 September, anytime between 10:30am and 1:30pm, for a special edition of a Bowl & a Blether — combined with a Macmillan coffee morning!
We’ll have scones (and jam and cream), treats, prizes, soup, and a friendly chat, all while our donations go to a good cause.

Join us in the large hall for a bowl of soup and a blether with friends and neighbours. All are welcome — why not bring along a friend or family member or a neighbour you think could use an hour out of the house?
Doors open at 11:30, soup from 12-1:30.

Bowl and Blether, July!
Come one, come all, for a bowl of soup and a chat with friends old and new! All are welcome. Invite your neighbours and friends and random people on the street — there is a place for you.

21 December, 7:30pm at St John’s: Longest Night service (a quieter Christmas service that acknowledges the darkness in which the light shines)

Remembrance Sunday
On Sunday 14 November, we observe Remembrance Sunday, which means worship begins at 10:45 to allow for observance of silence at 11:00. Members of our youth organisations will parade in, so if you want to be certain of getting a seat on the main floor please plan to arrive early. Those who arrive after the youth *may* need to be seated upstairs, if the downstairs gets full.
Everyone over the age of 11 must wear a mask inside the church building, unless exempt. The doors of the church remain open throughout the service for ventilation, so you may also wish to keep a coat with you.
At the close of the service we have a brief service at the BB anchor outside, in the church grounds, and then we join the procession through Gourock to the War Memorial (just outside the pool) for a service that begins at 12:15. Please do observe distancing at the war memorial.
The 10:45 service is appropriate for all ages but does include a 2 minute silence. In our experience children often recognise something special is going on and are perfectly able to participate in the silence, and are welcome, though you may wish to prepare them ahead of time for that stretch of quiet.
Christmas Window Competition 2020: Christmas Carols!
Gourock Schools and Churches Together is sponsoring a Gourock Christmas Window decoration competition! The theme is Christmas Carols — choose a carol and decorate a window in your house on that theme! Be sure to choose a window that faces the street, because a panel of judges (from each of the four churches, the schools, and the Council) will begin judging on the 11th of December, and prizes will be awarded sometime the following week.
We may not be able to gather for our usual carol service, but we can still share the joy of Christmas carols with the whole town! I can’t wait to go for a walk and see everyone’s decorations!
You can enter online here, or you can get an entry form from church or from selected shops around Gourock.
